The other day we took a day trip to Bernheim Forest to see the giants! I’ll have to say, living in Kentucky my whole life and I’ve never heard of Bernheim Forest. If you’ve not heard of it or have never been, you’re truly missing out! The forest contains a 600 acre arboretum with 8,000 unique varieties of trees! That’s amazing!

This spring Danish artist Thomas Dambo created a family of three Forest Giants at Bernheim. All the materials were locally sourced and the Out & back trail visiting the 3 Bernheim Forest Giants by Thomas Dambo. Mostly paved or gravel trail. Accessibility: There are at least 2 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Arboretum Way at the north end of the trail. Both of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is a wooden boardwalk (with railings), gravel, or natural surfaces, and A Danish artist created and placed three giant sculptures in an arboretum south of Cincinnati in March, and they're pretty stunning up close. Danmbo built three giants at Bernheim, but spread them out in the forest so you’d have to hike a while to see them.

A new art installation at the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is gaining a lot of attention. “For our 90th anniversary, we wanted to celebrate that, and so we commissioned Thomas Dambo, internationally renowned recycling artist, to come to Bernheim and build three giant sculptures inspired by this landscape.”

recurring event. TO CELEBRATE THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY of the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, Danish artist Thomas Dambo constructed three giants to commemorate the occasion. The massive sculptures were created using wood and a variety of other sustainable materials. The giants can be found along a two-mile loop trail encompassing the arboretum. The Forest Giants are the draw now. Since a Danish artist/sculptor created the new forest giants at Bernheim Forest attendance has seemed to soar.

“When I hear that people take something good away from it, it makes me feel like a proud dad,” Dambo said. Bernheim Forest has several fun activities and events planned during April 1-5.
